Wave Hub Comes Ashore

After a frustrating week of setbacks Wave Hub came ashore at Hayle Beach in the early hours of August 23rd.

The groundbreaking marine energy project which has created an enormous amount of interest on the beaches at Hayle and Lelant officially connected to the coffer dam in front of Harvey Towans at 5am on August 23rd.

Project Managers had overcome a number of challenges not least the unseasonably choppy seas off Hayle.

The £42 million Wave Hub project is critical to the success of a major new renewable energy park which will be situated on the site of the former power station.

The power station closed in 1975, with so much of Hayle Harbour built around the needs of the coal fired station, the consequences of the closure on Hayle were dire.

The new renewables business will give Hayle a national and international boost, offering a quick way for businesses to partner with other similar companies, with support from Cornwall Council SWRDA and Central Government.
